AbundaTrade wins South Carolina Smart Business Recycling Award

OK, so we are patting ourselves on the back, tooting our own horn and bragging…a bit. We are very proud of our latest accomplishment! AbundaTrade.com is one of 8 companies in South Carolina to receive the 2011 S.C. Smart Business Recycling Program ‘Outstanding Waste Reduction & Recycling Program’ Award!

AbundaTrade wins South Carolina Smart Business Recycling Award

Our vision at AbundaTrade.com has always lent itself to recycling efforts. In our first two years AbundaTrade repaired and recirculated over 100 tons of movies, music, video games, and books. Rather than taking up space in closets, garages, or landfills, these unwanted items provided cash for our trade in customers. By practicing reCommerce, we return these items to the market and reduce the need for raw materials to produce new items.

Combine that with simple things we do everyday like using reusuable cups, silverware and food containers rather than disposable cups and plates and recycling paper, plastic, cardboard, glass and cans at work. We also buy refurbished rather than new computers for our company and recycle ink and toner cartridges and batteries. We reuse cardboard boxes and paper for scrap paper and note pads. We also reuse packing materials like packing peanuts, newspaper and bubble wrap that we receive in packages to pack items we ship out to customers.

Starting in early 2010, through cooperation with our local Whole Foods Market in Mount Pleasant and with the Preserve “Gimme 5” program, we began recycling #5 plastics. Commonly used for yogurt cups and similar containers, AbundaTrade acquires large quantities of #5 plastics in the form of used DVD and video game cases.

If you have a business located in South Carolina and would like to report your company’s recycling efforts and potentially be named a winner next year, click here.

Even if you do not own a business, it only takes a moment each day to incorporate simple steps to reduce, reuse and recycle whether on the job or at home! As corny as it sounds, together we really can make a difference!

Digitial Smigital…Recommerce Industry for CDs and DVDs Is Alive & Kicking

Cake’s latest album “Showroom of Compassion” debuted as the #1 album on “Billboard’s 200″ chart this week.  This is big news, not just because this is the first time they have had a #1 album, (or even an album in the top 10,) but because they achieved this status with the lowest number of albums sold to achieve the number 1 spot.  They sold just 44,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Many say this means digital music is now “King.”  This may seem to be true when you consider that this week, Brittney Spears’ new song, “Hold It Against Me” debuted on” Billboards Hot 100″ by selling 411,000 digital copies this week.

But rest assured that thanks to the Recommerce Industry, the days of CDs, DVDs  and even books are far from over!

What is Recommerce? The definition:  re • com • merce; \re-’kä-mers\; The buying of previously purchased merchandise directly from consumers and selling previously purchased merchandise directly to consumers.

With Recommerce, you get the music and movies you love with the added bonus of being green.  Green as in keeping old unwanted CDs and DVDs out of the landfills.  Each year AbundaTrade keeps an average of over 75 tons of old CDs and DVDs from being tossed into the trash by owners who no longer want or need the items.  Green also in that you can save money buying used CDs or DVDs versus buying the digital version.  Plus, if you decide later you no longer want that album, AbundaTrade will buy it back.  So you can have a new CD or DVD collection as often as you like.

With brick and mortar music stores getting harder and harder to find and places like Best Buy reserving less and less space in their store for CDs and DVDs, (making room for things like Tablets and e-Readers,) buying online is the most common way to purchase music these days.  Enter used CDs and DVDs  into your search engine and chances are you will find listings for companies like SecondSpin.com, Wherehouse.com, Spun.com and, of course, AbundaTrade.com.  All are part of the Recommerce Industry for CDs and DVDs.  Sure you can download a song online also, but sometimes you want all the songs from that artist.  And, in many cases, you can get a CD for less money than you can download a song.  Don’t believe me?  Visit AbundaTrade’s Penny Store where you can find 50,000 items that cost just a penny each.

So digital you can have your run as “King,”  those of us participating in the Recommerce process do not mind a little friendly competition.  We know smart consumerism, smart for the environment and our customer’s pockets, is very much alive and kicking!

Whether you are looking to trade in some old CDs and DVDs for cash or you are looking to add to your exisiting collection, visit AbundaTrade.com where you get the most cash for your CDs, DVDs, Video Games and Books online guaranteed!
